THANK GAWD 2008 is dead and gone...

This is what my neighbourhood looked like in 1959.  WAAAAAAY before the ol' GAYCANUCK was born... [not by much] They just removed  all the beautiful cherry trees that used to line it in order to get back this 50's feel of neon being the focal point and not the trees.  SOME were saying the trees were over 75 years old BUT...according to this picture, wern't even there 60 years ago.  HMMMM. What IS cool is some of the original neon signage is still there and lit every night.   Hopefully they will add to it. I have to admit I like the feel of this neighbourhood... the mood.... kinda nostalgic.   and speaking of nostalga, here are the pics I took last spring when I was in the area a month or so before I moved here...   I was pissed off they did NO consultation with US, the people who ACTUALLY live here... I suppose it is all in the name of progress. 

Wow gang... I had one hell of a bear-filled / booze-filled  Christmas.  I have been to so many house parties and cocktail soirees I can't even count.  A few I've chronicled here on my blog... others were best left undocumented. Now I'm ready to face 2009 with a clean slate... BYE BYE 2008... your SUCKED... and BLEW at the same time...  The last few months of 2008 however have been really great.  I've been so busy and happy the time has just flown by.  Tomorrow I will start to de-frock my crib of it's festiveness and pack it all away for next year.  I already ordered my Chrisco hamepers [NOW called Santas Choice] for next Christmas.  A smaller one than this year  and with a TURKEY instead of ham.   And 2 with different kinds of fish  and seafood.  Something a bit different.   The household cleaning hamper I bought this year will keep me in janitorial supplies for YEARS.   And the pasta one I got will feed me for months as well. 

 SO you are probably wondering what my new years resolutions are for this year...  1. to spend more time with Hugo and Marc.   2. to work towards buying a van or camper   3.  to loose the paunch.  and of course 4.  TO HAVE MORE FUN!!!   anyway...  I am off to the tubs... [ no NOT THAT KIND... a bubblebath I mean]  I'm burnt from last nights frivolity.   Later ...  SHAWNO
